【7/21】Wildlife Sanctuary でオーストラリアの動物と触れ合いました！

 本日は、朝Hillcrest Christian College からバスに乗りCurrumbin Wildlife Sanctuary という動物園に行ってまいりました。

こちらは出発時の様子と、Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuaryの写真です。

そこでは、日本では見られないエミュやカンガルー、コアラなどを生身で見ることができ、時にはそれらと触れ合いながらあっという間の時間を過ごしました。

ペリカンたちの動画を撮ってみたり

鳥が頭上すれすれを飛ぶショーに参加してその迫力に圧巻されたり

気持ちよさそうに寝るコアラをただ眺めたり

インコゾーンで頭上に女王様を発見したり

カンガルーへの餌付け体験をしてみたり

フリータイムにはみんなで昼食を食べ、お土産を買ったりと

日本ではなかなかできない貴重な体験ができました。あまりに楽しかったのか、帰りのバスは眠りについてしまう人もちらほらいました。

オーストラリア語学研修、この調子で多くの思い出を残せる2週間にしたいですね。

以下、生徒の感想です。

Today, I went to the World Life Sanctuary Zoo. Many kinds of animals welcomed us, such as koalas, Tasmanian devils, emus, and kangaroos. The guide told us that emus and kangaroos are symbols of Australia. It is because they can only move forward. This shows a hope that the country will have a bright future. Also, I fed a kangaroo. Most of the kangaroos didn’t eat much because they were already full, but one kangaroo ate a lot, and I was happy. It was my first time going to a zoo in another country, so a lot of things felt new to me.

Tomorrow is my first day at a local school.
I’m very nervous, but I will do my best to make many friends.

Today was full of fun from beginning to end!
It was my first breakfast at the homestay—cereal with milk. The cereal wasn’t too sweet and tasted good.
We woke up at 7 and started getting ready.

Then we left for school by car with a packed lunch made by my host father. 

From there, we all went to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
Even though I had slept well because the bed was so comfortable,I was surprised to fall asleep on the bus 
At the sanctuary, we saw koalas and touched to kangaroos. For lunch, we three had hot dogs.
I bought a T-shirt which I fell in love with as a souvenir.
I’m tired but happy. School starts tomorrow, and I’ll do my best to enjoy it!

Today, I went to the zoo as part of my study abroad experience. It was an exciting day! I had the chance to see many animals, but to me the highlights were definitely the koalas and kangaroos. I had never seen a koala before, and it was sleeping peacefully in a tree. The kangaroos were more active, hopping around their enclosure but some of them were sleeping on the ground. It was amazing to see them up close. Visiting the zoo helped me learn more about Australian wildlife, and I felt closer to the culture. I’m really glad that I had this experience today.

明日は学校でOpening Ceremony が執り行われ、その後いよいよ、共に学ぶBuddyたちと対面します。Buddyたちとアクティビティをした後は、英語のレッスンや通常授業に参加します。英語漬けの日々はまだまだ続きますが、皆さん張り切っていきましょう！
